Gather Your Girlfriends for a Night In
I don't know the psychology of it, but I do know a girl's gotta have girl friends. And time to talk, connect, laugh, and share with those girl friends. Getting into your thirties, things can feel lonely. We're all busy. It's tough finding a good night to hang out. Kids get sick and work comes up. Reschedule, reschedule, reschedule. I know how it goes. But we, as womankind, cannot keep putting it off.
Schedule yourself a girls night. Close your eyes and point to a date on the calendar if you have to. Picking the date is the scariest part. Now that you've taken matters into your own hands and picked a date - go you! - just invite everyone. I personally love mixing circles of friends and inviting them to bring other circles of their friends. The point is, not many people will be able to attend, so invite everyone into the circle and let the night unfold as it will.
Making time for a girls night is not a want or a luxury- it is necessary for your growth as a woman. We desperately need connection and community to stay sane, to learn and grow, to feel safe and to be known. I know back in college girls night meant wild night out. But, just no. Keep it simple. Have a night in with new and old friends where you can love on them and be loved on. Clean house, optional.
I'll try to give you some ideas to add some extra creativity to the night. But just know, the point is relationships! If the Pinterest-type prep stresses you out, please skip it. I won't be offended. And no one else will be either :) You do you. Just don't bail on making it happen.
How To Prep
- Make a list of your invitees, and send them a text or simple invite. You can use an app like Word Swag or Canva to make a pretty one.
- Day of, quick clean the party area. You know, to your comfort level :)
- And, please, please- if someone asks to bring something, let them!
- Keep the food simple. As in, don't cook anything. Cheese board + store bought cookies + hummus does the trick.
- A couple bottles of wine, glasses or plastic cups out, and lemon slices for fancy water.
- I had skincare to share, of course, so adding some pampering into the evening is such a treat. Display products or any takeaways you want to share!
- Set up a mask station in a bathroom. Or a mani/pedi station in the living room. Or a hand exfoliation station. Anything that gives you something to enjoy and a way to relax.
- Ok, station run down: Food - Drink - Products to Share - Mani/Pedi - Masks in Bathroom
- Music, candle lit, and DONE.
