We just got back from visiting family in Louisiana, and we didn't realize how much we needed a break. We've had our heads down, working so hard and plugging away. It was a relief to be with some of our fave people and have some parenting back up. I wanted to share my takeaways from the week!
1. Trips like this are easier when you're not breastfeeding. I am so grateful I was able to breastfeed Linden as long as I did. I really am. But in so many ways, it is a sacrifice of time and dependency. Long drives require frequent nursing stops. When everyone is hanging out and catching up, you have to steal away for a nursing sesh. Sharing parenting responsibilities with the hubs or grandparents still leaves the majority of the weight on you. Or, you spend time pumping to earn yourself that break. I felt so much freedom this week with that responsibility off my shoulders. It's a new season that I am so thankful for!
2. Watching your parents love on your kid is the best thing in the world. I love that Linden got to know my mom and dad even better, laughing at their jokes, listening to and trusting them. Calling for them endlessly if they were out of sight. And I love that my parents saw the beautiful treasure that is Linden, in her perfection and in her tough moments. To see them fall in love with her melts my heart. I can't even handle it.
3. Being able to work from anywhere rocks! Adam and I have a dream to be truly free to work anywhere and on our terms. When we get away for a few days, we realize how thankful we are that we've chosen this path. Getting to pursue what we love and having the freedom to take time for us- makes us so happy!
4. The timing of this trip is truly beautiful. The day we left for LA, we went under contract on our house (whaaaat?!) and I celebrated my ten year Nashville anniversary. We have been working so hard to get this house sold, to move onto the next chapter of our story. I just love that so many things came to fruition during this trip. The decision to move to Nashville changed the course of my life. It was hard as hell. But isn't that how all good things come to be? It's necessary to walk through the fire to get where you're supposed to be. And we believe that about this season. If all goes well, we'll be moving in three weeks. And we couldn't be more thankful for the timing.
5. Sleep is everything. I missed you, my sweet sweet friend. Sleeping in and napping daily. Did that really just happen? Pinch me. (Thank you mom and dad for the luxurious treat!)
We're geared up for the second half of this year. Packing, moving, toddlering, building businesses- pretty low key for us!
