You've probably seen me posting about the Last 90 Days Challenge I took part in. Brainchild of Rachel Hollis and taken on by thousands, the goal is to end a year with as much as intention as we do the new year. I wanted to share why this has been so life-changing for me!
Instead of scrambling for goals or resolutions. Trying to make a plan of action in my post-holiday fog. Feeling guilty for all the ways I'm not living up to my ideal New Year self. I am simply continuing with the habits I've worked hard to create over the last 3 months. (The five pillars of Last 90 Days are posted at the end, but here's what I focused on.)
Waking early before the rest of the house. Using that time for practicing gratitude, setting my intention for the day, writing and planning. This hour or so before I'm on full mom duty is the single most important thing I do for my health and well being.
Exercising daily. I have fit in workouts over the past couple years, but I've counted them as a luxury. When I got more serious about my health last year, I realized my workouts served my physical, mental and spiritual self. Especially Barre3 and running the treadmill. I no longer see it as a frivolous use of time, but a key component to my overall health.
Showing up for my business. It's easy to assume this means working more or harder. For me, it's been about the inner work. Breaking down walls and barriers. Sifting through lies I tell myself. Truly understanding why I feel called to this work and what it is doing for me and my family. On the outside, it may seem like I'm working less. But I think it's more about working intentionally and efficiently. I feel that I'm starting a new chapter in my business.
It took time and work to find these tools that I can use to stay healthy. They help support me and fuel me. They give me space to go deeper. Yours may not be the same as mine. You may have other important areas of your life that have gone neglected. That deserve your focus and care.
I encourage you to start today. You can't rely on the new year to magically make things happen. You also shouldn't let the new year frenzy cause shame or guilt about where you are. Just take one step to figuring out what your aim should be. Where you spend your time. How you walk through life this year.
I hope this is helpful or encouraging to you as we start this year. I hope your dreams are crazy big and that you care for yourself intentionally as you chase them! xo Lauren
