Green Goddess Salad

The first time I had a Green Goddess salad, I was a senior in high school on a field trip to Fort Worth. My art class drove over for the day to visit modern art museums and exhibits. We ate in the Modern, which was almost too beautiful and fancy a setting for high schoolers. But that wedge salad with Green Goddess dressing changed my whole perspective on salad. I remember coming home, raving about this dressing I couldn't get off my mind. Who even knows if that wedge salad was that amazing. I'm totally laughing at myself now. On the other hand, food does have that power, doesn't it? Teaches us new flavors, introduces us to cultures, creates a craving.

Thirteen years later, and I vividly remember that salad. I have days I can't stop thinking about it. Gotta make it. This recipe brings me the closest to that memory. And atop local greens, sprouts, broccoli, avocado- really, any green vegetable you feel comfortable adding to a salad- it steals the show.

It seems there are ten thousand ways to make Green Goddess. It's an herbaceous, oniony blend, usually with mayo. This is just my own spin. I will never give you restrictions in my recipes. Only freedom to explore and make it your own!

So, go eat your greens. And I hope this recipe sticks with you for the next thirteen years. xo
